Outdoor cinemas in Australia’s capital cities have been a popular way to spend the evenings. Sitting outside watching a movie under the stars, with a picnic, was something that Matthew and Joanne Canny enjoyed during their time in Sydney. When they moved to Wagga Wagga in 2005 they felt that the city and surrounding communities would also enjoy the experience and thus set about organising an outdoor cinema.
The main aim of Movies by Moonlight is to show great films, outdoors at a reasonable price for the whole family. As peoples lives become busier and more stressful, enjoying a picnic, sitting back and watching a movie with family and friends is a wonderful experience.
Superb sound and visual system, combined with a giant inflatable screen were chosen by Matthew for the ultimate outdoor cinema experience. It can be easily transported and shown in almost any outdoor area.
Another aim is to show great movies to country communities that do not have access to a cinema. We have already held very successful nights in areas around country NSW such as Adelong, Rankin Springs, Narromine, Lockhart, Boorowa to name but a few. Having a movie in a small town is a wonderful and inexpensive way of getting the whole community together. It is also a great way of raising money, be it for a local club, church, council, festival.....
